I have been featured in this great collection of gorgeous paintings and creative handmade gifts for Easter and spring among the flowers. This collection is by Sandra Hanken and she lives a country life in northern Minnesota. Her amazing Etsy shop is Becoming Bears ETC Handmade teddy bears, toys, pillows & patterns. I love dragonflies and this is one very special dragonfly.

This is from her listing on Etsy and she writes – Dragonflies are amazing creatures of the wind, with long bodies and shimmering wings. It is sometimes said that when a dragonfly lands on you, you will have good luck. In various cultures, the dragonfly symbolizes change, renewal, and the power of life, as well as joy, new beginnings, love and hope. They make wonderful gifts to celebrate a special occasion or to add beauty to a bookshelf, side table or bed.
I made all the dragonflies that I am listing from my original pattern. This listing is for a lovely dragonfly made from cotton prints in shades of olive and lime green. The glimmering wings are made from sparkle tulle. It is approximately 13 inches long with a 16 inch wingspan and is stuffed with fiberfill. Since it has button eyes, it is appropriate for dragonfly lovers over the age of 3.

This is a beautiful etsy treasury put together by Treadlers’ Shop: Spend your precious time spinning or wearing the Earth’s most precious natural fibers. The finished yarns and textiles that are created by hand, yours or mine, are exceptional. A hand spinner who eventually became a weaver, it is silks and the most precious natural fibers from creatures who share our world that enchant me. Whether using commercial yarns or my own hand spun yarn, my usual preference is weaving in an uncomplicated plain weave structure where, I believe, the fibers speak most eloquently for themselves. Spend your precious time with precious fibers.

I put this together a few weeks ago. I have discovered a fabulous tool at Handmadeology. Please check it out because I know how frustrating it is not to be able to post your treasuries. Painted Farmhouse Furniture Top and leg.
I have created some new things in Between The Weeds, mainly furniture. Honestly it is exciting running the saws to make farmhouse furnishings again. It is distressed, simple lines, handmade and crafted with found wood re-purposed bits and pieces and each one unique one of a kind. I am not mass producing each work but staying with the handmade quality of time-worn masters (not that I am one). Everything is functional and all you need is a little imagination to see the possibilities of this new work.
Painted Small Chest of Drawers by Laurie Rohner Studio
I have also completed two custom pieces of painted furniture. The first is an old end table that had been damaged on the top. I made the repairs and painted it with a subdued palette and checker board top gives a whimsical touch. The second is a small chest of drawers, it has been all striped out. I love the color combo and the dark teal color is called Nile by Ralph Lauren. I had it custom mixed in a Benjamin Moore oil based paint. I have a tall cabinet I am painting in Nile. Can not wait to finish.

I discovered weebly.com through another etsy shop owner. She too felt that if she was doing all this work promoting and marketing her work why was she handing over a nice percentage to etsy.com? They weren’t marketing her shop and since the changes made in SEO by the big boys, etsy once again has left us out in the internet ether’s. At weebly.com I even have a nice shop broken down to the different areas I sell in. Woodland fairy houses, painted furniture, and oil and watercolor paintings all set up with PayPal or you can use Google Checkout. Get this it is FREE. I think the internet fairies are behind this one. Seriously, even me the terminator of computers crashing, set it up and even took my domain name at GoDaddy to point to my new site.

Yesterday I added something new in the shop, Between The Weeds. I call them Fairy Wish Cottage Pillows. They are sweet for all ages and Briar has personally given each one a blessing. Fairy Wish Hand-Painted Heart Pillow is enchanted with fairy magic and a simple inspiring word ‘grow’. The pillows are hand sewn and slightly stuffed, made of cotton canvas painted with acrylic paints and ink and heat sealed. Attached is a natural wool heavy yarn. This pillow the fairies picked spring fresh colors of pinks blues lavenders and sage green ( that matches the wool). On the back of this pillow is a field thistle.
Size of pillow: 9″l x 5.5″w x 1.5″d.
Though the fairies inspired the making of these new pillows the style is influenced by my love of farmhouse cottage chic. Hang the pillow on a door knob or nail or the knob of a dresser to remind you to keep growing. Age should never stop anyone from remembering to grow.

Have you ever seen a better looking faerie cottage than this one? Briar explained to me just the other week she knew of a fairy in need of a one room cottage. Of course I had to oblige and created this woodland shabby chic style cottage. The walls are painted white and there is even a royal blue mattress on the four post bed. Honestly I wouldn’t mind one for myself. Would you like to know more about the chic fairy who lives inside and is willing to move to your location, cottage and all. Well buy the house and with it comes a tiny bio of this whimsical little faerie.

Woodland Fairy House, a custom made cottage made from branches bark moss and bits and bobs. Inside is a burlap rug with a large comfy chair, four posted bed, bark bureau, side tables, and a sculpted painted twig fantasy light (use the imagination to see the light).
Can be placed inside or out. Outside it will last for about 1 to 2 years and in for a little girls lifetime. I like to spritz my houses to keep the moss supple. It is not preserved and has no chemicals and if in the right environment has been known to start growing.
Measures: 10″ x 12″ x 8″h. and weighs about 4lbs.
The branches are nailed into place and the main carcass is glued and nailed. It is very sturdy.
