Woodland Fairy House for your spring gardens.

Once upon a time fairies created a fairy house for your garden or cottage and gave it to me to sell in my shop Between The Weeds. Woodland Fairies were delighted with what the fairies created. Think of the happy joyful energy that will surround your home and your life when you add this fairy cottage to your house.

Woodland Fairy House

Moss, ferns, bark and branches make up the structure but you also get a bench or settee with a side table. On the outside is a bird house tucked into the crest of the house and on the other side is moss and bark. You also find a wicker awning. There are stones, shells, pebbles, lichen and clear globes for the fairies to light with their magic. This cottage fairy house is ready for your touches to make it very special and personal. Delight for all ages.

I think there was a time very long ago when magic and fairies and unseen friends were a part of our world or more to the point we were a part of their world.  As our egos grew the veil between our worlds fell back down, darkening the light, and now only a few see, feel and understand what is Between the Weeds.

Spring is approaching and Between The Weeds has some epic ideas.

Spring is approaching and our thoughts turn to new plantings of pretty botanical flowers for our porches and homes. Maybe something for Easter with bright cheerful wildflowers and herbs. Then how about Mom? These are fabulous ways to say you matter and special in my life. Below are a few ideas for any occasion popping up in your life. Everything is custom and nature inspired works of functional art and available at my shop Between The Weeds.

Nature Planter Box Botanical Garden Woodland Painted Furniture Farmhouse Cottage

Botanical garden woodland painted nature planter box or tote is hand painted with botanical garden cottage flowers and custom made painted furniture. In the home and garden it is a great way to brighten up a farmhouse cottage chic home decor. Use in your kitchen hall entry or bath.

Use inside in the kitchen or use it for a planter with pansies or herbs planted in clay pots. Planter needs to be lined (not included) if planting directly into the planter.

My custom made and hand crafted wooden storage utensil tote or planter painted a cottage creamy white is one of a kind. I hand paint garden wildflowers on the front and back.

Palette: raspberry, white, cream, leaf green, clear blue, cornflower blue, yellow, purple, lavender.

Made of pine
Tote measures:12.25″l x 6.5″d x 8.75″h
Inside compartments are 5″l x 5″w x 4.25″d.
Hours to finish about 4 hrs.

Nature Planter Box Woodland Garden

Painted woodland garden nature box planter or tote is an organizer for farmhouse cottage chic home decor. Use in your kitchen hall entry or bath. It is sturdy and custom painted with woodland ferns.
My painted furniture is crafted by hand and painted white then decorated by hand with bunches of ivy, maiden hair fern and berry on the sides and front and back. The tote is made of pine with a maple handle. I love the dainty leaves of the maiden hair ferns. The crisp green against the white gives a cool fresh feel.

You can use this tote year round.

Uses: organize your napkins and utensil or keep remotes, gloves, mail or simply fill with towels. Fill with plants or greens. Throw your phones tablets in while they charge. Great gift for a gardener?

The planter measures outside 10.75″l x 6.75″d x 10.25″ h
and the inside is 9.25″ l x 5″d x 9.5″h.

Great for a pop of whimsy in your farmhouse cottage decor.

Cottage Woodland Fairy House Painted Sweet Pea

A hanging woodland fairy house painted has a cedar roof and walls with moss growing in the cracks. Painted sweet pea cascade down all sides and a purple door decorates the front. This is sweet peas home and she will bring you whimsy and joy all year long.

Hang it inside during the winter months. In the spring hang it from a limb or hook.

I think it is great for the princess fairies room where she can spend the days listening to the wee voice of her friend Sweet Pea.

Measures: 6.5″ x 7″ x 8″ and hangs 13″.
Made of cedar poplar base and a galvanized wire(no rust).

Woodland Fairies searching for fairy house gifts.

My fairy houses take much time and care. They are unique little houses. Created with much love and wee bit of magic these houses are wonderful little abodes for the wee ones in your own houses and gardens. Remember to leave an offering or two for the fairy who lives inside. Maybe a tiny dish of sweet water or something you admired on a walk outside. The fairies appreciate the gesture and will reward your efforts.

Strength and growth.

“It is through solving problems correctly that we grow spiritually. We are never given a burden unless we have the capacity to overcome it. If a great problem is set before you, this merely indicates that you have the great inner strength to solve a great problem. There is never really anything to be discouraged about, because difficulties are opportunities for inner growth, and the greater the difficulty the greater the opportunity for growth.”

- Peace Pilgrim

Yellow Peony watercolor painting by Laurie Rohner

Watercolor painting I did originally for this sweet person. I never got to give it to her so it is titled Miggie’s Flower. She loved yellow flowers and tree peonies.I think it is a nice tribute.

Many years ago I knew a great woman who had struggled with cancer from the age of 31 when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She had a family and she was sent home after surgery to die. Her doctors said she had about 1 year maybe 18 months left on her life. This was long before she entered into my life. It would be another 25 years before I would have the honor of knowing this grand dame of strength and courage.

It has been 15 years this month when I went to the services honoring this women. She became a friend and a teacher. I remember her talks and there were days she would say “if one more person tells me God doesn’t give you more than you can handle I am going to spit in their eye”. I believe she would have. She believed in the strength of her own being and God was her support system and not her judge. She drew from that connection and through her astonishing survival of many more surgeries she never wavered in her resolve to grow and be more. She may not have known then how much she changed my outlook on life (though I suspect she did) and the lives of so many she never got to meet. Her story was how though given a horrible diagnoses it is not a doctors right to decide the outcome of a life. She battled cancer for 38 years, with sheer will power and enormous fortitude. In the end an unrelated corrective surgery caused an infection that struck her down. I think she just got tired of the battle and chose to leave. She passed due to heart failure not cancer.  Her soul said it is enough let’s go home, and she listened.

It wasn’t until I read this quote, that the memory of this women came flooding back. The lessons she had helped me see. I have felt very discouraged and angry at God. I want things to work now and not later. How many times we would have these same discussions? Never would we answer the question but her energy to find a solution and learn from it was always there. I am reminded that life is messy and out of great difficulties in my life I met this women who also dealt with insurmountable odds. She showed me opportunity is in the challenge and accept it with dignity and strength because you can be better than you ever dreamed. The trick was believing the challenge is a good thing. It is something you should be grateful for having and embrace it as a gift from God. A challenge is not a judgement passed down from above but instead a loving lesson to uplift you for something wonderful. It is hard to remember this but thankfully my angels, my guides and beloved fairies keep reminding me, and maybe my dear friend too.

Saying good-bye to my favorite painted furniture piece, ever.

Today I finalized the sale of one of my custom painted furniture pieces to a very lovely person and will have to say good-bye soon. I have sold many works of mine but a few I enjoyed tremendously. I tend to look at them as you would a child. It is the curse of being an artist because although you may create them or dare say give birth to them, there eventually comes a time to let them go. Today was that time for this wonderful trunk that had inspired so many other creations to find its wings and go to another home. I know this person is going to cherish it and it is why it needed to go. I realized in a quiet moment, that is my gift to the world as an artist to inspire, to share the beauty of nature, to make someones room shine and by doing so make that person smile and feel good about themselves. I said today to this beautiful person my intention, why I do my creative work is to bring joy to people.

Painted Cottage Trunk from my Painted Furniture Collection at laurierohner.com

I will certainly miss this work of painted furniture but then again I can build myself something new and wonderful to takes its place. I would say that is the upside to also being an artist. These words I live by ‘If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. Then again does not this creating thing apply to any profession or work of any kind?

Now I hope the postal service gets it there in one piece. I guess the angels and fairies will put in a few hours extra.

Busy Signal.

“I keep the telephone of my mind open to peace, harmony, health, love, and abundance. Then, whenever doubt, anxiety, or fear try to call me, they will keep getting a busy signal-and soon they’ll forget my number.”

- Edith Armstrong, author.

Old Telephone at Hotel Cantayo Nasca, Peru, May 2005
photosbymartin.com

It is a funny thing happening in my life now. I have done just this and it seems like Spirit is approving. Each morning I have made the effort to align me (soul) to the vibration harmony love peace of that is and not what I want. As everyone knows it is hard to follow on a daily basis yet when you do what a ride. I have maybe for the very first time surrendered completely to Spirit and to God. I love the imagery of the telephone. It works for me, I had to share.

Have a love filled day.

New Fairy Houses are in my shop today.

I have just finished two new fairy houses and have them ready to go to your home today in my shop. Today I am sharing with you this special one of a kind fairy house called Rose Cottage. It is sweet and a bit nostalgic of yesteryear’s. There are rose buds accented throughout this eclectic mix of cottage chic and woodland rustic fairy decor. The roof is constructed of twigs woven together with wire and twine. I then tuck moss and bits of things I discover in nature. The rose buds accent the top and the front side I cascaded them down the ribbon. The inside is more roses and ribbon with bits of sea glass and glimmering glass marbles. Two of the walls have wallpaper and a round painting hangs on the wall. There is a table or a bed (the fairies will decide) that is suspended from a log and a counter is on the opposite wall. Moss covers the floor and there is a post in the middle for support and gives this cottage wonderful character. This is a beautiful natural sculpted fairy house and great to add or start collecting my one of a kind custom hand crafted fairy inspired works of art.

This is Rose Cottage and is available in Between The Weeds.

Shaking things up.

from https://www.facebook.com/Monarch?filter=1A firm believer of if you want something to happen in your life then you better work hard making it easier for things to happen. Another words, stop thinking why is my life not working, figure out what you need to do and put in the hard work. No one who ever made something for themselves ever did it by sitting around contemplating and meditating about it. It is why I have cut back on writing about things I would like to see in my life because I am not going to see them unless I shake things up. The things I want can manifest and will because I believe it is a fact, all I need to do is stay focused and work. It has been very hard work. There are moments when I say why am I doing this because on the surface it is not working. Life has shown me when I have struggled the most I have also gained the most, I mean curl your toes skip down the street and giggle uncontrollably with utter joy.

I am selling this house I presently live in so I can grow and experience life in a more meaningful way for me. Nothing wrong with the house or the area but I have stopped being who I am here and need to move on. I am changing the sites (noticed the change on this one?) and I am redesigning my product line. I am focusing on nature and organics with art, fairy houses, and organically grown herbs and plants. The later is when I get to where I am going.

Since life is to be lived and not to contemplate away I see no reason to sit someplace and watch my energy being depleted and my spirit slip into atrophy. Why worry about death, to me, that is a living death. I know this is what I need to do. It is going to take everything I got and believe in. I can not wait for the moment when it all gels together. If you see a middle-aged women giggling and skipping down the street just say to your self “Oh I know her” but please do not call the asylum. We all have things we want to do, were meant to do. Why not shake things up and get moving?
