After a few days away from my thinking mind I found my center once more. Gratitude I feel is deep and immense. The connection to the beloved has opened my heart to see things once again in the bathing light of possibilities and creation of dreams. It has brought me a message from a dear soul I am so thankful I could help. A message changed the way I think of my business and the direction the business is heading. Gratitude opens the heart and love flows into every cell of being.
I highly suggest stepping away from your thinking mind and taking a vacation. It costs nothing. The reward is epic.
“Sometimes what seems like surrender isn’t surrender at all. It’s about what’s going on in our hearts. About seeing clearly the way life is and accepting it and being true to it, whatever the pain, because the pain of not being true to it is far, far greater.”- Nicholas Evans
Slowly I am learning to surrender and live from my heart. I guess you can say I am a slow learner or maybe a late bloomer yet I think it is not when you arrive to realization about yourself. Understanding accepting and being is all that is needed for anyone to live from the heart. Nature and art is a joy and I hope you find my work a heartfelt creation. Please see my work at Between The Weeds Etsy Shop. The artwork included here is an original garden nature art watercolor of blue and pink garden flowers. It is one of many original work by Laurie Rohner.

The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. Anne Frank
Isn’t it the simple things that offer the greatest pleasure and joy. Nature is a part of my life and always will be and in the foggy moments of any life nature is always there ready for you to connect. It could be a flowers scent, image of a gorgeous landscape,or glimpse of a hummingbird connecting you to simplicity of nature.
Lilacs blooming this time of year with their sweet scents and colorful variety of blooms conjures in my mind afternoon tea with my grandma, Honey. She always had a story to share and I can still hear her giggle (which was very infectious). For Mothers Day in the flower shop I would have bouquets ready all around the shop and the shop would fill with the sweet aroma. So I painted this painting in memory of those wonderful times in my life. Maybe lilacs conjure a memory for you also.

Today at Between The Weeds I would like to share with you one of the new watercolor painting I have just completed. I had hoped to share this new work with you for Mother’s Day. Then one day I looked at this quote I have scribbled on my studio table and was reminded all things happen in their own time. A leaf does not worry about not opening because it is May it opens when it is ready. Slowly I am learning to work within the space where nature exists. We forget is even there.
This is an original watercolor of a woodland garden with bees and a hint of the sky. You can buy it at Between The Weeds or at Laurie Rohner Studio.

“Whatever you habitually think yourself to be, that you are. You must form, now, a greater and better habit; you must form a conception of yourself as a being of limitless power, and habitually think that you are that being. It is the habitual, not the periodical thought that decides your destiny.”
One of the biggest problems anyone is confronted with today is the meaningless words people throw around at each other. It is essential for artist, business owners and small creative entrepreneurs to work connected to social media, web sites and blogs. For the most part it is fun and people are very kind and supportive with their words. Yet I find the positive people the lovers of optimism are busy people running their creative businesses and when moved will say a few kind words knowing how hard it is to be a creative person. Artists and creative entrepreneurs, as my mom would say, wear their heart on their sleeves. I think it is a good thing to do this but if you do then you need to be thinking and forming a solid concept of your authentic self vision.

I had a double whammy last week and it was only a reminder that I had started to form a habit of thinking myself as less. I stumbled. I had a remark made about selling this house and about why I am not selling from two different people. At first I was understanding then annoyed and then angered because I did not ask for the words given as advise. I found I was doubting the decision I made for myself and mostly for my business. By the end of the week I felt defeated. Then I got an update about the new house and business, a place where my dream will flourish. The vision I hold is better than I could imagine. I am now habitually waking to this vision, I look at the update and realize it is happening. I believe it is happening. I add pieces to the vision and as I form a better conception of myself with the power to imagine and create I become that being with every breath, every cell, every thought is creating.
Back to the meaningless words people love to throw around remember the people and the words are reminders you need that you stopped believing in the greatness of you. Smile and wish them well then go rock your world.
Looking for amazing art. Have you seen the art featured on Etsy? This is a great collection of work William Clark of Studio Art 88 has assembled for everyone to see. Before you go browsing through the collection below you have to make sure you check out his online studio shop over at etsy. This is an example of Studio Art 88 fabulous work and one of my favorites.
Tuesday brings you a fabulous collection Fresh From The Shop by Geraldine from the fabulous shop Handamade. Her shop is fun and creative with great handmade things. Take a moment and check it out. She kindly has featured my painted nature box in this collection from my shop Between The Weeds. You can also buy it at Laurie Rohner Studio.
This is a beautiful etsy treasury put together by Treadlers’ Shop: Spend your precious time spinning or wearing the Earth’s most precious natural fibers. The finished yarns and textiles that are created by hand, yours or mine, are exceptional. A hand spinner who eventually became a weaver, it is silks and the most precious natural fibers from creatures who share our world that enchant me. Whether using commercial yarns or my own hand spun yarn, my usual preference is weaving in an uncomplicated plain weave structure where, I believe, the fibers speak most eloquently for themselves. Spend your precious time with precious fibers.
Be sure to visit her shop along with the ones featured here. By the way I am also featured here with my watercolor available at Between The Weeds.
Really this is what is fresh on the etsy page and you wonder why your sales are off. Though I think it is pretty amazing I would not say it is fresh. I am finding more things on etsy being listed on the front pages of their site by Etsy administrators which is making the Etsy of yesterday trendy and irrelevant. I can also say my clients come to my shop and buy my things and leave. In fact take a note Etsy shop owners please do not waste your gorgeous creative energy worrying about not making it on the front page of anything at etsy. Instead use the energy to promote your shop with blogs and social content.
I love my etsy shop and keep working hard at filling it with new and quality custom painted work. I have made educated decisions through blogs such as Marketing Creativity by Lisa Jacobs or another great blog Handmadeology to rethink how I creatively work at marketing my work. If you are like myself constantly learning about improving your creative business you need to keep exploring other possibilities.
In closing I have not one thing against the artist who created the product above. The problem is with Etsy. If this is what etsy administrators think is relevant then maybe that is the answer to the ever asked question in the many forums and teams at Etsy. They are marketing to a small group of people with trendy product that will be never seen again in 6 months from now. Work at creating quality products for your shop that offer something unique but not trendy is always the answer. Problem is Etsy finds this not relevant.
